deviantART's 11th BirthdAy: Let's Celebrate!
August 7th, 2011 marks deviantART's 11th birthdAy, but in true devious style, we're taking a whole week to celebrate! Our original plans for Deviants Appreciation Day were so huge that there was no possible way to express our love for the community in a mere 24 hours. Instead, we've created Deviants Appreciation Week, and what better time to host a week's worth of community-oriented events than in the days leading up to our birthdAy?
Each day this week, we have something special organized for you to participate in! Check out the schedule of events below to come party with us!
In Skribble, our latest community contest, we challenge

2011 was full of emotional events the world around, and our community responded at unprecedented levels. From natural disasters to historical celebrations, entertainment milestones to tearful goodbyes, our community spoke out like no other community can — artistically, creatively, and emotionally. In many ways, last year marked the final chapter of a few eras, opening the door to new beginnings for 2012. Let's take a look...

1. Reflections
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly a year can fly by. I've made it a practice over the years to sit back and reflect on the year, what went well, what didn't and where I'd like to see the new year go. A year can bring a lot of lessons and without reflection it's hard to ensure that you've taken away everything important from it. I apply this personally and to deviantART and it's that time again :squee:
A coup

Journal Skins - When will code be yours? by GinkgoWerkstatt, journal
Journal Skins - When will code be yours?
A while ago it happened that i saw a journal skin that looked very familiar to one of mine. After checking the code i realized that it was my journal skin and only images have been replaced.
Because of that and after writing a journal to remind people that it isn't right to do something like that, i was asked when someone can call a journal code their own.
First i wanted to give an explanation via reply, but after thinking about it i realized that this can't be answered easily and should be available for more than one person to read (and to be found later again easily as well).
That's why i asked my watchers and maybe random guests who vis

The Emote Revival Contest - Part Two
Regardless of if you've ever created an emoticon or not, the chances are high that emoticons are a part of your online life. Yet, sadly, the deviantART Emote Community is one that tends to not get enough notice.
I bring to you a community wide contest with a focus on emoticons. This is a three part contest which will involve emoticonists as well as the dA Community as a whole.
Part One- Sign-up
Part Two- Community critiques/comments
Part Three- Create new emotes
