Premium Content Platform
DeviantART is proud to announce our Premium Content Platform — providing the ability for content creators to become sellers and generate earnings by making digital files of their high-quality work available for download. The Premium Content Platform allows deviants to buy and sell digital goods for immediate download and use. Sellers are able to charge a little and sell a lot, and take advantage of the easy-to-use Points currency for digital downloads. Buyers get the things they want with the satisfaction of supporting the artists they love.

Holiday Card Project 2012
It's back! With the goal of bringing a little cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the deviantART Holiday Card Project connects deviants from around the world and applies their tremendous artistic abilities in designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In past years, the Project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 1,000 deviants from 50 different countries/political regions. Cards were then divvied up and distributed in-person by deviantART members to local Los Angeles, CA hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad for hospital staff members to hand out to patients.
The idea behind the Holiday Card Project is simple: do something nice for others. However, if you're looking for even more incentive, every deviant who submits a card will be given a free one-month Premium Membership to deviantA

Ways to Present Your Conlang Online
This is something that I use to think about a lot when I was first starting out but now that I've a little more exposed to the community than I was before here are some of my tips on how to present your conlang to the world wide web!
1) Google Docs This is what I use to make my grammars and dictionaries. The nice thing about Google Docs is that it does almost everything that Microsoft Word can do only it saves periodically online as you edit it. PLUS! You can access it from any computer by signing in wit your GMAIL sign in. You can change the fonts, size and colour of your headings to make it look all appealing and such. For your dictionary I wouldn't necessarily suggest spreadsheets unless your conlang has a one to one word translation. This likely won't be the case to just make a format for your entries and stick to it! EXAMPLE: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MuSrz-cmywbETJkA2N-__X2ivDfheTxhGUQI21IbUMA/edit
Welcome to #PremiumContent!
Welcome to the new PremiumContent group! Home to everything related to the Premium Content Platform -- updates, spotlights on top sellers, tips about how you can best use the Platform to further your art, and creative ways the deviantART community is taking the Platform to the next level.
As you may know, the Premium Content Platform provides the ability for content creators to become sellers, who retain 80% of all revenue earned. Buyers, meanwhile, get access to the awesome digital content they want, with the satisfaction of supporting the artists they love.
The Premium Content Platform launch is a staged release. Over time, all deviants will be given ability to become sellers. (Those who have the ability to sell will be notified with a Hot Topic notification in their Message Center.) All members are currently enabled to buy content.
Premium Content?! Yaaaaaay
Yesterday, deviantART launched the Premium Content Platform for beta testing.
In short: You will soon be able to sell your deviations for points.
In my opinion this comes in very handy for a few galleries of dA:Stock & ResourcesCustomizationJournal SkinsThis also means that you can now buy and sell Fonts off dA, which goes nicely with the recent Font Gallery Revamp. A step forward into making dA a site for high quality stock.
I love this new option!
Of course, I am aware of upcoming issues and possible problems.
Still, I love it
Stolen works, low quality, useless items, "unworthy" items, no more free resources well, to protect yourself against that, maybe you have to think twice before you purchase something. You should do that anyway
If you are concerned about stolen items, copy the image URL and paste it into google.com. Their

CSS Contest: Pure and White - Ended
While people love to work on skins that burst with colors, it is now time to take a step back and try something new.
Not everybody feels comfortable using white, but this time it will be your challenge! Do you feel ready for it?
For this contest you have to create a new design or skin that uses white as the dominant 'color'. You are allowed to use only one additional color, but can use any shade of grey. There should be no black added to your entry either!
Only exception to this would be very small buttons and 1 smaller photo to enhance your entry.
Create something clean, fresh and pure that will enhance your own experience or those of random guests and visitors.
If you are not a coder feel free to create a design, if you know your business go ahead and create a complete skin. Choose on your own if it will be for a journal or a gallery.
Those examples do not match the description above 100%, but they should give you an idea of the contest theme and point in t
CSS + Design :: Pure + White
Tomorrow the contest closes, get your entries in for voting!!!
UPDATE: Calling For Designers!!!So far, we have a nice selection of coded journal skins added to the contest. We need more designed skins, as we only have a few designs. This contest is open for everybody, so even if you can't do CSS, you can still create a journal design.
New Contest!I will be the judge in this new contest that eCSSited is hosting. Please share the contest details with your watchers and fave her journal.
Entries are open to all deviants and is for two categories, Design and Coded Skins. I won't be particpating with this one, as I am currently rather busy on the CSS end of things. So, instead I will be judging, alongside ginkgografix bradleysays, Snowshi and CypherVisor.

The Neglected Importance of the Online Community
What is the Worldwide Online Community?
The Worldwide Online Community is simply a group of people from a wide variety of countries and continents who come together to share their skills, experience, and/or love for a subject. Online communities are a fairly new faction and are not fully understood, their importance is neglected and may not reach their full potential until the next generation incorporates them more and more. It wasn't until the '90s that the Internet or World Wide Web really became a part of the culture, but in less then 20 years its impact has changed society from top to bottom.
In order to really delve into the importance of the worldwide online community, one must first define what it is. There are hundreds of different definitions of what an online community is, but this statement is generally accepted throughout these definitions.
Worldwide online communities are groups of people who join together on the Internet with a common int
New! Cubism Messenger Bag Design Challenge!
What comes to mind when you hear the name Pablo Picasso? That’s right, it’s time to break it down, Cubism-style! For the first time ever, we are hosting a Messenger Bag Design Challenge! We want you to create an original design for the flap of the bag in the style of Cubism.
For this challenge, we are defining Cubism as an art style in which instead of depicting objects from one viewpoint, the artist depicts the subject from multiple viewpoints to represent the subject in a greater context. Often, the surfaces intersect at seemingly random angles, removing a coherent sense of depth. The background and object planes interpenetrate one another to create a shallow ambiguous space.
Your design should appear on the flap of the bag (below the zipper), using only <

Site Update: Group Comment Messages, Group Widgets

Group Journal Comment Messages for Admins
Over the past few months, many members have been asking to bring back the feature where Group admins receive Message Center notifications when members comment on their Groups' journals. This week, we brought back this functionality and messages will now be appearing for all new comments.
Group journal messages will appear for all users who have administrative powers over that Group's journal. For example, if the "Contributors" admin class is set to 'Can

Deviousness Award Interview with TimberClipse
What is this Awesome Achievement?
The Deviousness Award is an accolade which is traditionally handed out
on the 1st of every month to one truly outstanding deviant.
The Deviousness Award for May 2012 goes to TimberClipse.
Get to know more about Zev with this interview.
First things first, who is Zev? As an artist and a member of deviantART?
Who am I? That's a good question! I am 16, finishing up my junior year in high school and a lover of film and video. I have been on about 50 film sets in the last two years working on a different array of jobs from production assistant (PA) to key grip, gaffer, director of photography (DP), and editor. My passion is to continue on sets like
Heidi is cool, and I'm proud of her.
Heidi is a nice lady.
Yesterday, she got a curious comment to her profile, with two compliments and a surprise non-compliment in the deviantART muro drawing below! It's like an Easter Egg! That insults you!
Our dear friend trowlandson took pity on Heidi and her 1/3 insult, so he whipped up a comment to brighten her day (and again, sadly, ruin the day of whoever won 3rd place).
I decided to go the non sequitur route with my comment to Heidi. Non sequitur, but sage advice nevertheless.
If any of you feel the need to leave Heidi a message regarding her coolness, your pride towards her, and a drawing to accompany it, I'm sure she'd appreciate it!
